On 29th of June, 2015 a delegation of the National Agency for Roma of Romania (NAR) visited Ruse at the invitation of Association BRTMI. The delegation was led by the President of the NAR Mr. Daniel Vasile.
The visit started with a meeting with the Regional Governor of Ruse, Mr. Stefko Burdzhiev, attended by the Deputy Regional Governor Mr. Stanimir Stanchev, the Secretary of NCCEII Ms. Rosica Ivanova and the Manager of the Association BRTMI Mr. Ivaylo Ivanov. During the meeting was discussed issues of mutual interest relating to Roma inclusion in both countries in the area of health, education, employment and housing.
Mr. Daniel Vasile presented in the Romanian policies for inclusion of the Roma minority into society. Mr. Burdzhiev noticed that the priority areas for Roma integration policies are interrelated and solving challenges in education creates prerequisites for resolving problems in the field of employment and housing.
In conclusion, the parties agreed for further meetings to discuss specific activities in favor of people, communities and economies in the trans - border region Ruse – Giurgiu.
The next meetings of the program of the Romanian delegation was with Ms. Rositsa Ivanova – Secretary of the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues. During the meeting were discussed joint initiatives related to the establishment of a Roma platform, including NGO’s and relevant government institutions in Southeast Europe, as well as various aspects of the policies of the two countries in the Decade of Roma Inclusion. At the end of the meeting was discussed organisation of official state visit of the responsible institutions for Roma inclusion of Romania in Sofia.
During working lunch at informal atmosphere the team of Association BRTMI and the Romanian delegation discussed the joint project ideas and possibilities for multi-fund grants under European, national and other programs.
The visit of our Romanian colleagues continued with a cultural program, during which we visited the Ivanovo Rock Churches and Basarbovo Monastery “St. Dimitrii of Basarbovo".
NAR delegation went to Bucharest after discussing a draft memorandum of partnership with Association BRTMI, which will be formally signed between the two parties on 1st of July, 2015.
