On 5 and 6 June 2014, Aleksandar Todorov- expert in Association "BRTMI" took part in training on "Youth Participation", which was held in the hotel "St. Sofia", Sofia. The training started with presentation of the program and the organization, responsible for this event- Association for Pedagogical and Social Assistance for Children "FICE"- Bulgaria. The training is part of a project "Supporting youth participation in Bulgaria". Two training experts from the Netherlands were engaged for the event and it was obvious that they had big experience in conducting trainings for youth participation. The trainers were able to engage the audience's attention by cleverly combining lectures with a variety of role games and practical exercises for individual and group work and as a result participants were more motivated and positive about mutual cooperation.
The group was introduced to the Dutch model for working with young people in terms of attracting them to participation in various spheres of activity. Training experts outlined the legal framework on which lies the work of Dutch professionals with young people. Several practical methods were presented, through which youth workers could successfully attract young people to participation- "World Café", "The ideal social worker" and others.
At the training also was presented the work of Youth Councils, gaining great popularity in the Netherlands. They are headed by children and young people, beneficiaries of social services and / or institutions and are intended to stimulate their active participation in the development of this certain service and / or institution. The training ended with awarding the participants with certificates and exchange of contacts.
