On 11.07.2017 in Sofia was held a workshop on the role and necessity of institutionalization of the educational mediator. The meeting was organized by the Program Management Unit of ZOV Programme -part of the Bulgarian-Swiss Cooperation Program.

Representatives of municipalities implementing projects funded by the program and their partners, educational mediators, representatives of interested institutions - MES and MLSP, as well as experts from the embassy of Switzerland participated in the meeting. Ivailo Ivanov and Maya Mihailova took part in the workshop, presenting the project of Ruse Municipality and Association BRTMI.

During the workshop the participants from different municipalities discussed the role and functions of the educational mediator, what are the key requirements for the profession, where the mediator should be positioned and how to be funded.

The participants shared their experience and activities in the field of education on projects funded by the ZOV Programme as well as good practices from their previous projects and initiatives. The experts of BRTMI presented their activities related to the training of the educational mediators hired after a competition from the Municipality of Ruse (initial and upgrading training) as well as the monitoring and supervision provided.

At the end of the meeting the conclusions and decisions taken to be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science on the institutionalization of the profession and the position of educational mediator were summarized.
